China is obviously experiencing rapid development and rise of economical wealth of its citizens which is easy to observe in big cities. Luckily the Middle Kingdom is still abundant in places where one can take a deep breath and rest away from cities’ fast pace of life and instantly growing buildings. Small towns which seem to develop much slower than major cities are perfect resorts to watch vivid and colourful everyday life of its dwellers. Although Dali is very popular tourist attraction with booming numbers of Chinese tourists it still has this nice touch of a small, provincial town, especially a bit farther from the main tourist paths. Local markets where people from surrounding villages gather to trade their goods seem to ignore the fact of growing popularity and lively present their original rural character.
